Underage Drinking, Substance Use & Violence Coordinator
Summary
Supports GBPS and Affiliate Initiatives to strengthen networking opportunities, increase awareness and education to foster coalition building and alternative program services aimed at developing protective factors to reduce risks associated with underage drinking and accompanying negative behaviors.
Duties and Responsibilities
Experience working within identified communities to increase youth/resident involvement for resolution of community issues. Candidate should demonstrate ability to work with diverse and high need communities, create, engage and help to sustain youth and community coalitions to include, residents, schools, business, social service agencies, legislators and other community stakeholders.
Knowledge of evidence-based substance abuse prevention strategies • Experience working with coalitions or on community-level programs
Demonstrated volunteer recruitment and management experience
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, friendly, and professional manner with a community's residents (youth, parents, clergy, etc) and professionals (law enforcement, businesses, local
government, etc)Maintains regular communications with Coalition, volunteers, and community stakeholders s participating in this project;
Demonstrated ability to communicate with the general public and diverse audiences.Ability to structure and deliver and coordinate effective non-formal awareness workshops, to address youth abuse of alcohol and marijuana use.
Monitor involvement of youth, parents, and community stakeholders to promote message of the coalition.
Ability to independently organize and prioritize work.
Ability to compile and organize records and/or reports
Must be dependable and must maintain flexible work hours as needed and assigned.
Monitors coalition progress in achieving outputs, products, deliverables
Develops program and fiscal reports to reflect point-in-time status of project activities Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated project management experience (grant assistance, adherence to budgets, program plans, etc)
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Social Service, knowledge of developing training programs, submitting grants, assessing the referral process, and organizing activities; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
