partnerships to distribute crucial substance information and offer Narcan access in Fullerton, Washington Park, and Grand Boulevard.

Urban
Community

GBPS offers youth-focused gardening activities to promote wellness and healing through gardening. The program provides hands-on experiences in urban agriculture, environmental stewardship, and healthy living.

Acclivus

GBPS offers mentorship programs, career readiness workshops, and community engagement activities for urban youth to develop their skills and build a brighter future. Additionally, GBPS provides health and wellness initiatives, including fitness programs, mental health support, and nutritional education to help youth lead healthier lives.

Laureus

GBPS offers after-school basketball, karate, and life skills courses for youth.

Our Activities

  • Restorative Peace Circles

    Implementing the “Why, What, When, Where” the problems influencing violence occur, and engaging youth impacted by violence in “How” they think the problems/stressors resulting in violence can be resolved. 

  • Youth-led violence prevention and health equity

    Messaging includes broadcasting, texting, and flyers. This will include weekly GBPS CAN TV broadcasts with interviews from a host of youth on a range of topics with positive messaging such as “Most Youth Don’t Use” to inspire faith and hope in young people. In the past, these shows have also provided the youth with ways to cope with teenage stress and gave recommendations to other youth on positive community involvement. 

  • Bi-monthly youth-focused Peer Support Groups

    Built around the themes of peaceful conflict resolution, social skills building, leadership development, coping with trauma and career development. Support Groups are led by staff and field professionals who have the expertise and credentials to provide trauma-informed group facilitation to build youth resiliency and positive alternatives to Violence. 

  • Workshops

    Messaging around Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention and other youth-centered health related topics such as HIV/STD prevention, COVID-19, health equity awareness and the role of trauma and resilience in health.
